Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Having now lived in the UK for the better part of a decade, I can look back on my time in West Texas and point at myself and laugh for not utilizing HEB more than I did. I really shouldn’t have cared that the commissary was so small there, or that it rarely had anything in stock. Personally I think the commissary and exchange are worthless in the states, but every time I say so publicly I incur the wrath of more than a few bitter folks who remember fondly the days when it was an actual benefit to shop on base. Meh. After 7+ years of AAFES and DECA more or less having me by the balls, give me a Super Wal-Mart or give me death.
